I can’t believe it’s already March! The other things that I can’t believe is that I’m all caught up on my 2014 Project Life. I didn’t start this year planning to work weekly but it’s just fallen into that format. It’s still working for me so I’m not going to try to change it right now. The one thing I am concerned about it keeping up with my Project Life while I’m on vacation for the next two weeks or so! This is about the time I stopped working on my album last year and I’m not going to let that happen this time!
My Plan To Stay Caught Up While On Vacation
Here’s my plan… I know that I’m going to have WAY too many photos for the next few weeks. That’s okay to me because I know I will end up using a lot of those photos for other projects anyway! My goal will be to stick with my normal 2 page layout plus one or two inserts for the week. If that sounds crazy, let me explain one thing, I consider an insert to be anything that’s not a “Design A” page layout. I “bookend” my week with “Design A” so I know where my weeks begin and end. So yes, it’s possible that my “insert” might be a full 12″x12″ page!
I’m also planning on bringing my grid lined composition notebook that I just started using to help me plan my pages. It’s nothing fancy and I haven’t used it during the week, just when I sit down to go through my photos and plan out what photos I want where. I will at least pull those photos into a folder so that I know which ones I want to work on when I get home. If I have time to do some edits while on vacation I will. I do plan on adding some notes in the notebook for these two week just so that I don’t forget EVERYTHING by the time I get back! Normally though, I just write everything on my cards at the end of the week.
Project Life 2014 Week 9
Now, this is from just last week. I actually sat down on Saturday and did start to finish (in between taking care of the kids and working on laundry)! Because I’m using mostly “Design A” I know the minimum number of photos I need for each week. I actually thought about adding a small insert this week but decided to make a collage 4″x6″ card instead. This meant that I had only a few journaling spots. It ended up working rather well because most of the cards cover multiple photos. I tried keeping my photos in chronological order when I first started this year’s album. I found that I like grouping my photos by subject within my week. This may change as the year progresses but as I said before, I’m not going to try to “fix” something that’s workingi just fine! So without more chatter, here’s my latest week:
I actually ended up with all my photos being black and white this week. I was typically adding in one color photo for each week. I had planned to print my yummy potato photo in color buuuuut… I wasn’t paying attention when I hit print. Then I realized I’d closed the Photoshop file (which I don’t save once I finish my edits) so I just went with it! I also realized I hadn’t added any word brushes or digital extras at all on my photos this week (that’s what I get for rushing!) so I pulled out my Thickers, Just Add Color stickers and my other embellishments and added a few things. I like how most everything I added was more words! I don’t have a lot of embellishments to go crazy with so most of my pages stay a more minimalistic style. This may change over the year, I’m not sure, but don’t be surprised if my December there’s embellishments all over my pages!
Anyway, I’ve chatted your ear off long enough! I hope you’ve enjoyed these pages and I hope you have a great week! If you want to see what I’m up to on vacation, hop on over to my Instagram! Your next stop on the blog hop is life, love, and lens!
